My Albertsons Trip Yesterday

I almost didn't go to Albertsons yesterday. We (meaning my children) were having serious issues. Although we didn't make out the door in time for the kindergartener to get to school due to a hungry baby, a spilled (full)cup of milk, a puppy peeing on the floor, a potty-trainer peeing on the floor, etc.... we did get to Albertsons a little bit later. To my surprise the kids were pretty good (if you don't count one tantrum and one bloody nose) and I scored some awesome deals!! Here's how I did:
I got:
1- 10lb ham
20- cans of pork n' beans
11- cans of dices tomatoes
7- cans of refried beans
5- cans of ravioli
2- cans of Rotel tomatoes
1- bottle of Kraft salad dressing
6- boxes ofHamburger Helper
4- boxes of gourmet popcorn
4- boxes of fruit roll-ups
4- boxes of Nature Valley granola bars
2- Snack Pack 4ct. puddings
3- boxes of blueberry muffin mix
4- pkgs. of cookie mix
4- tubs of frosting
2- boxes of toaster pastries
1- box of Warm Delights
4- Green Giant Steamers
3- Kids Cuisine frozen meals
4- Healthy Choice frozen meals
6- Marie Callendars frozen meals
10- Banquet frozen meals
I did a total of four transactions

Here is what I paid: $52.86 before tax

$60.15 including tax

Total Savings: $213.35!!

Plus I got a $1 catalina for the Old Elpaso beans

AND I will get a $13 rebate for my ham

That is about an 80% savings on my groceries this week!!!

AND I am now up to .55 off per a gallon at Albertsons Express! Yay for super cheap gas!!!

You CAN do this too!! It is not difficult, it just takes a little time. And it is well worth it!

How I got $500!!!

It really worked!!
Here is my sweetest little one Cole with my $500 Visa Gift Card!!! I can't tell you how excited I was to see that FedEx delivery guy!
I know I told some of you about an online offer that I started a couple months ago and I'm sure it sounded a little bit fishy. I read about it on one of my favorite blogs called Money Saving Methods and was a little skeptical but decided to give it a try because of all of the other moms that were getting these great gifts. Well, here is the final result.
I'm here to tell you that it really does work, I got my $500 Visa Gift Card on Wednesday and I couldn't be more excited to tell you all about it. You can do it too!!
This was my first time so I think it took me a little bit longer to get everything signed up and organized the way that I wanted it, probably 3-4 hours all together. You do have to put out some money up front for whatever offers you choose to complete, my out of pocket for this gift card ended up being $50-$60 (I have the exact $'s, I just don't have my papers with me right now)
That is a $440-$450 PROFIT for 3-4 hours of work! I don't know many jobs right now that are paying $100+ per an hour right now, especially to a stay-at-home mom like me (:
Here are some tips if you would like to do the same thing:
1. Read, read, and reread all general instructions and specific instructions for the company you will be going with BEFORE you begin!
2. Make sure you document EVERYTHING! You never know when you might need it.
3. Keep track of any dates when you may need to cancel offers by. Write it on your calender or in your planner and even write in a reminder a few days ahead of time. You don't want to get charged for anything you don't want or need and these companies most likely aren't going to reverse any charges if it's your own fault.
4. DO NOT use your debit card to make your online purchases. Use a credit card. There are so may reasons for this. Just don't do it.
5. Anything you mail NEEDS to have delivery confirmation on it (d/c without a signature required because these companies will not sign for it) That way you have a record of when everything is recieved. This is SO important and so worth paying a little extra.
6. Email me a picture of you with your gift card when you get it, because it is so fun to brag!
Carrie at Money Saving Methods has taken the trouble of finding legitimate companies and giving us a step-by-step guide for how to do these online offers. I can't thank her enough for doing that for all of us. Thanks a ton Carrie!! You're my hero (for so many reasons!)!
For all the details on how to complete your own online offer and to learn how to get started click here!!

Free Tote Bag & More Savings at Walgreens for Earth Day

Tomorrow (April 22, 2009) you can get a free tote bag with any purchase at Walgreens. Print your coupon here. In addition, this coupon says it is good for 10-15% discount on select items--including Walgreens brand items. I'm not sure what all those included items will be, but it's worth checking into, especially if it's something already on a great sale.

Another Great Trip to Walgreens

My totals for todays trip:

Transaction #1

$11 3- 12 packs of 7-up products
-$3 Use this $1/1 IP (print 2 times at home, went to my husbands office to print one more)
$1.99 - Chapstick Naturals
- $3 Register Reward from last weeks shaving gel
Total OOP: 6.99 + tax
*Recieved a $5 RR for 3- 12 packs and a $2 RR for the chapstick= $7 back

Transaction #2
$2.99 Edge Shaving Gel
$1.99 Chapstick Naturals
$4.96 2- Reach floss
-$1.98 Use two Walgreens in-ad coupons for floss @ .99 (at the front of the store)
- $1.50/2 man. coupon from 2/8 insert (I think?)
$.74 2- clearance packs of jelly bean easter egg thingys (filler items)
$.12 clearance creme egg (not in the pic because it got eaten on the way home(: )
- $5 RR from soda from 1st transaction
Total OOP: .32 + tax ( I probably didn't need to add that last creme egg)
*Recieved a $2 RR for the Chapstick and a $3 RR for the shaving gel

Basic I spent $7.31 + tax OOP and recieved $7 in RR. All of those things before coupons and sales would have cost $25.50. That is a 71% savings if you don't count my RR's or a 99% savings if you do count them!!! Awesome!! These sale prices are still good this week, so head in and get some deals for yourself!

A Great Week At Walgreens

Check out all this stuff I got for FREE! Walgreens had some awesome deals going with Register Rewards this week. Here is a list of my freebies:
  • Sunsilk Shampoo
  • Sunsilk Conditioner
  • Edge Shaving Gel
  • Skintimate Shaving Gel
  • Two Degree for Men Trial Size Deoderants
  • Two Degree for Women Trial Size Deoderants
  • Two Colgate MaxWhite Toothbrushes
  • Two Chapstick True Shimmer
  • Three 18pc. packs of Scunci Hair Elastics

Since these items are from this last week's ad I won't share any of the details but in my next post I will list all the deals for this up coming week!

Here are some tips when dealing with Register Rewards:

  • First you must purchase the product and once your transaction has been completed your register rewards will print. You can then use that RR for future transactions.
  • You cannot "roll" register rewards(RR) on the same item. For example, this means that if you were to use a RR from your first chapstick purchase to buy another chapstick, a new RR would not print. However, if you were to use the $2 RR from your chapstick to buy a pack of hair elastics, you would recieve a $2 RR for the hair elastics that could then be used on the chapstick and so on.
  • Only one RR will print per promotion/per transaction. Ex: If you buy three chapsticks you will only get one $2 RR, not three. However if you bought one chapstick and one pack of hair elastics you would get one RR for the chapstick and one RR for the hair elastics.
  • You can use coupons to minimize your out-of-pocket(OOP) expense and to make money. Ex: The MaxWhite toothbrushes were $3.49 each but I had a $1 off coupon for each one, so my OOP was only $2.49 but I still recieved a $3.50 RR. Because of those coupons I made $2.00 on those transactions.
  • When you use a RR to pay for a transaction it cannot be for more than the things that you are buying and it cannot pay for the tax. The tax is OOP. I know, bummer, huh. :(
  • RR's count as a coupon. At Walgreens you can only have as many coupons as you have items. Ex: If you want to pay for your MaxWhite toothbrush with a RR and use your $1 off coupon, you have to add a filler item (a cheap pencil, candy, something you need anyway) to even out your item/coupon ratio. Two items/ two coupons. This is the same with larger transactions as well.
  • Always use your RR's last. The order in which you hand your coupons to the cashier seems to make a difference on your total for whatever reason. This is the best order found so far: 1. Manufacturers coupons 2. Instant Value Coupons (from the monthly EasySaver Catalog at the front of the store) 3. In-ad coupons (from the weekly Walgreens ad) 4. Register Rewards This way will allow for any possible overage!

As always let me know if you have any questions! Happy Saving!

Sorry for a month without posts!

Hey there! It's been a while! Well, it all started with spring break and I haven't posted since. Sorry about that. We've been pretty busy around here and I've been thinking a lot about what I want to accomplish with this blog.

My lack of posting has not been because of a lack of great deals out there. This has been my most successful month so far in the grocery department. I have also scored some awesome deals at Walgreens.

My greatest desire and goal within this blog is to share all of these fantastic opportunities for you to save money! I also would love to have all of you be a part of this blog. By sharing our great finds we can help each other become better homemakers, which I believe is our most important job. And stretching a buck is a big part of it. So, let's do it together!

Feel free to email me anytime, my email is penniesinyourpiggy@hotmail.com. Also, please post your comments. We would all love to hear how you did on a certain deal or if you have anything to add. One of my favorite parts of a blog is reading everyone's comments, so please share! Just be sure to keep your comments family-friendly and avoid anything mean-spirited :)

Now, let's get saving! Good luck!!
